The NRF projects total spending on food for the holiday this year will be $6.78 billion, lower than the past two years. About 61% of people surveyed plan to attend a cookout or barbecue, while nearly 40% plan to attend fireworks displays. Only 14% of those surveyed said they would travel over the holiday.
