Executive Summary

Amazon released its Prime Day 2019 results on July 17, 2019, calling it the “largest shopping event in Amazon history.” The 48-hour shopping extravaganza brought millions of deals and more entertainment this year.

  • Amazon sold more than 175 million items during the shopping event, compared to 100 million items last year. We believe the expansion of prime day hours contributed to the increase.
  • There was more entertainment this year, including Twitch Prime Crown Cup featuring FIFA19 and the Prime Day Concert headlined by Taylor Swift.
  • Amazon continued to take Prime Day to brick-and-mortar stores.
  • Top sellers worldwide included the Echo Dot, the Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote and the Fire TV Stick 4K with Alexa Voice Remote.
