Highlights from our June US Same-Store Sales report: The earlier Easter weighed on results for some retailers in March. L Brands noted that it had a one-point negative impact, while Zumiez and Fred’s also called out an impact from the calendar shift of the holiday. Costco’s comps were again negatively impacted by gas deflation and foreign exchange, which drove down transaction value by more than 3.5%. March proved to be another challenging month for Gap, which saw negative comps across its brands. The company also noted that it closed out the month with higher inventory levels than planned, and that this will weigh on gross margins in the first quarter. This report is for subscribers only.
