Highlights from our March 2020 Retail Traffic report: March saw a significant decline in US retail traffic amidst the coronavirus pandemic, heavily impacted by the shutdowns implemented from the middle of the month. Apparel was hit badly as consumers reduced shopping for nonessential items. A high proportion of retailers think that the pandemic will have an impact on their businesses for more than two years, and about 80% of retailers have, or plan to implement, new health and safety practices in stores—according to a survey by RetailNext.
