July 2018 US Retail Sales and Traffic: Status Quo Continues with YoY Increase in Total Retail Sales and Decline in Store Traffic

Highlights from our July Retail Traffic report:
- On a year-over-year basis in July, total retail sales increased by 6.0%, according to the US Census Bureau.
- Retail sales increased by 0.4% month over month in July on a seasonally-adjusted basis.
- Changes in store-based sales and traffic remained negative in July, although the declines registered were the lowest and second-lowest, respectively, in the last six months. While conversion rates and average transaction values remained positive, return rates were flat, according to RetailNext. Retail traffic declined by 4.7% year over year during July.
