Highlights from our September US Retail Sales Report: Total US retail sales excluding gasoline and automobiles increased 4.4% year over year in September, versus the 4.7% rise in August. Clothing specialty retailers’ sales fell 0.7% in September, following August’s 2.0% increase. Department store retailers posted a sales decline of 7.3%, worsening from a 4.6% decline in August.• In September, nonstore retailers saw sales rise 15.6%, following a 13.8% rise in August.
