Highlights from our July US Same-Store Sales report: Costco’s same-store sales grew higher in July this year compared to the growth reported in the same month last year. Buckle and Cato brands’ comp growth turned positive compared to declines posted in July 2017. L Brands’ comps were flat. Costco’s comps increased by 8.3% year over year in July, beating the consensus estimate of 6.5%. Within foods and sundries, departments that recorded strongest comp growth were tobacco, liquor, and frozen foods. Comps for both hardlines and softlines grew in the mid- to high-single digits.
