Publix Super Markets, Inc. (commonly known as Publix) is a privately held, employee‑owned supermarket chain in the United States, headquartered in Lakeland, Florida. The company was founded in 1930 by George W. Jenkins and has grown to be one of the largest supermarket chains in the U.S. Publix specializes in food retailing, pharmacy services, prepared foods and private‑label products (e.g., GreenWise, Aprons).
