China’s total retail sales (ex. food service, incl. automobiles and gasoline) remain strong, albeit slowing from around 30% growth in March to a mid-teens percentage rate in April 2021. Growth was against undemanding comparatives from one year earlier, when the country was suffering from the outbreak of Covid-19: Sales declined by nearly 5% year over year in April 2020.
