According to the National Retail Federation (NRF) annual holiday spending survey, conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics, US consumers are expected to spend an average of $1,007 this holiday season, 4.1% more than they planned to spend last year. Some 53% of consumers said they would like to receive accessories or clothing this holiday.

53% of Consumers Surveyed Would Like to Receive Accessories or Clothing this Holiday

According to a Prosper Insights & Analytics holiday survey, 53.0% of all adults over 18 said they would like to receive accessories or clothing, while 66.3% of millennials aged 18–34 said they would like to receive accessories or clothing.

It was founded in 2011 by parent company Graphic Image to offer artisan quality leather products made with American craftsmanship and luxurious European leather. Industry Collaborations and Awards

GiGi New York collaborated with luxury department store Neiman Marcus and luxury goods company MCM Worldwide to feature a collection of food and drink leather trays, ice buckets and coasters in the 2018 Neiman Marcus Christmas Book. It also collaborated with American football team New York Giants to promote clear bags that can be taken into sports arenas.

Must-Have Gift Recommendations This Holiday

GiGi has released two new collections of handbags for this holiday season. 

The Evening Collection features handbag designs including crossbody, clutch and card holders as well as leather cuffs. Kate Crossbody bags are handcrafted and available in rose gold metallic goatskin, white gold metallic goatskin, rose wash embossed python and gold wash embossed python. 

GiGi New York also introduced The Savanna Collection in October 2018, which features handbags with pebble grain leather including Italian haircalf leather and Italian croco leather. The collection also includes Maddie Crossbody, Dana Crossbody and Abigail Crossbody. The handbags are available in a range of colors and designs including leopard print, polka dot, cognac, red and black. 

GiGi New York’s parent firm, Graphic Image, released Mary Poppins, in a genuine leather binding as part of its new leather-bound book series just in time for the holiday season and the release of Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns movie next year. 

Another must-have gift is Graphic Image’s leather-bound agendas, one of the company’s most popular items. The 2019 calendars, planners, agendas and address books are bound in European goatskin and calfskin.

Leveraging Social Media

GiGi New York has collaborated with Louisiana-based fashion, travel and lifestyle blogger Jennifer Palpallatoc Perrault of Haute Off the Rack to launch the Genevieve Bucket Bag, which is the third of its kind and features an adjustable leather shoulder strap with cinch top drawstring closure.

GiGi New York has also collaborated with fashion blogger Collins Tuhoy Smith of Collins Closets to introduce the Game Day Collection. The new collection includes clear bags approved for use in stadiums, which have been the largest seller since summer. These clear bags have been promoted by the American football team the New York Giants to give female fans a fashionable handbag that meets clear bag requirements at all NFL stadiums. Several social media influencers have also promoted these bags, such as Cohins Tuohy Smith, Jennifer Palpallatoc, Veronica/Wows, Kyrstal Faircloth, Brooke Webb, Marnie Goldbery and Lauren Kay.
