JCPenney announced the appointment of Jill Soltau as CEO and Member of the company’s Board of Directors, effective October 15, 2018. The position of CEO has been vacant since Marvin Ellison resigned in May 2018. Ellison now serves as the CEO of home improvement retailer Lowe’s. Earlier this week, Jeffrey Davis, CFO and EVP at JCPenney, announced his resignation, effective October 1, 2018.

Soltau has over 30 years of retail experience. She joined Jo-Ann Stores on March 2, 2015, and served as President and CEO. The company is a specialty retailer of fabrics and crafting supplies and has more than 850 stores in 49 states.

Before joining Jo-Ann Stores, Soltau spent eight years at Shopko, most recently as President after serving as EVP and Chief Merchandising Officer. Soltau had joined Shopko in 2007.
